PLANTATION, FLORIDA COMPANY HAS CUTTING EDGE PATENT
According to an article in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, SoLapharm, Inc. a Plantation, Florida based pharmaceutical company, has created a process by which existing drugs are reconfigured into new tablet designs that include an inactive layer where the pills can be split.
The breaking of pills represents a problem to patients, especially for those who must take precise dosages. Standard pills, even with scored indentations, are virtually impossible to split evenly.
Not only has SoLapharm, Inc. developed a method by which medication can be split and still provide the right dosage, the invention can also be used to include two different types of medication in one tablet.
SoLapharm, Inc. calls this process Accu-break” adopting the slogan, “Made to be broken.” The company currently has nine patents pending.
I would recommend you contact a patent attorney to assist you in filing a patent with the United States Patent & Trademark Office, as their expertise will be invaluable during the sometimes complex and lengthy process.
